The Philadelphia Studio Ballet Performance Company offers serious students the opportunity to participate in high quality productions throughout the year. This experience gives young dancers a peek at the commitment necessary for a career in dance while continuing to hone their craft. It bridges the divide between training and performance. PSB Company members are taught a varied repertoire of classical ballet, contemporary dance and other styles dedicated to works specifically selected and choreographed for their abilities. From this body of work, choreography is chosen for performance in a wide variety of venues, from small and informal to large theaters. Pieces are also selected for entry into regional competitions throughout the year.
Even if your child does not aspire to be a professional dancer, students gain invaluable experience performing in a professional environment. The combination of these experiences encourages artistry, confidence, the development of group cooperation, and lasting friendships. But, ultimately, it is the excitement of being on stage that they cherish the most
As part of our concert series, the Company performs in our annual Nutcracker, area school performances, community events, and a Spring Concert tentatively scheduled for March. These performances are in addition to PSB’s end-of-year Showcase.
Company membership requires significant commitment by the students. Dancers must be willing to commit to the PSB Saturday rehearsal schedule and members must meet the formal program class requirements.
PSB's DANCE TEAM program is open to all who wish to join. It is a great opportunity to participate in a team experience with your friends & strengthen your dance technique in the process. Travel to competitions in the Philadelphia/New Jersey area and compete for titles and trophies.
Competition is for both our ballet & non-ballet students. We are excited to announce that we are expanding the vision for the Team this year and offering our students the chance to perform not only jazz routines, but contemporary, modern, ballet and hip hop as well! Many of our new & existing faculty will participate and introduce a variety of new choreography to the team.
Team rehearsals are taken seriously. We attempt to schedule them at times that coordinate with students’ schedules for convenience.
