Dress Code

All dancers at Philadelphia Studio Ballet are required to wear the assigned leotard for their class/level. A clean, neat appearance is important for proper dance instruction. We appreciate your understanding!
  • The dress code for each level is mandatory and consists of leotards in level specific color (see below)
  • Warm-up dance sweaters or shrugs and leg warmers are acceptable at teacher's discretion.
  • Colored dance skirts are acceptable at teacher's discretion.
  • Proper HAIR etiquette is essential for all dancers:
    • Ballet students are expected to wear their hair in a neat, ballet bun. If hair is not long enough for a bun, it must be kept off the face with clips or a headband.
    • Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Tap students must wear hair in a bun or ponytail. If hair is not long enough for either of these styles, it must be kept off the face with clips or a headband.
This year, to help mitigate the spread of infection, we will leave the studio windows open for as long into the fall as possible. If a dancer feels they need an extra layer for warmth, that is ok. Please make sure their layers are formfitting – dance sweaters, shrugs, leg warmers. Please DO NOT send in coats, sweatpants, pajamas, huge sweatshirts, etc.
